The 2008 meeting ran smoothly, featuring talks by LDEO professor Wally Broecker, winner of the 2006 Crafoord Prize in Geosciences, and Nicholas Coch of Queens College, whose geohazards research has been included in presentations on the History, Weather, Discovery and National Geographic Channels as well as articles in local and national print media.

Various field trips included the Hudson Highlands, the Sterling Hill zinc mines, Sandy Hook on the New Jersey shore, Glacial Geology of Westchester County, the Tilcon quarry on the Palisades Sill, and tours of the various labs at Lamont Doherty.
