The course meets, generally, from 7:45 AM until 5:15 PM every day, Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 11 for a total of 45 hours of contact. A continental breakfast and hearty lunch are included each day. On field trip days, we may decide to meet at and leave from remote locations.
The 'fine grained' daily schedule is under development, and in any case will be subject to change depending on participants' needs and changing weather conditions.
Participants should dress comfortably and appropriately for the daily activity. It is often quite cool in the Purchase buildings, and warm when we're outside. I bring a sweatshirt and long jeans every day, but generally wear a short sleeve shirt, shorts, and light hikers.
On 'Kayak Field Trip Day' you'll want a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and sandals or paddling shoes. Lightning rods are optional.
If you own a GPSr, you should bring it along every day. If you plan to purchase one, do so before the class. You'll learn the ins and outs of the various settings on your machine, and will be able to create an 'earthcache' with it.
I look forward to meeting and working with you all in what I'm sure will be a stimulating and jam packed week of relevant earth science content and kindred spirit camaraderie.
